Winston Flowers – Boston, Massachusetts (2013 – present)

Winston Flowers is one of the nation’s most highly regarded florists with seven shops throughout greater Boston and New York city, a two-acre garden center and a 60,000 square foot, state-of-the-art design center. As the lead designer for the Chestnut Hill location, I create custom floral designs and perform on-site visits and client consultations for commercial and residential properties. I also perform daily set-up and break down of the store, and contribute to product merchandising.

Estate Gardener and Floral Designer
Shankhassick Farm – Durham, New Hampshire (1998-2007)

Shankhassick Farm is a residential 52-acre property with roughly 3 cultivated acres of gardens, including: perennial, rose, annual, vegetable, shade, cutting, herb, rock, and water.  In 1999, a five-alarm fire devastated the property, claiming the main home and surrounding gardens. I managed a “soup-to-nuts” recovery and renovation that included greenhouse management and the planning, planting, care, and maintenance of the gardens. Services comprised: redesign, planting, irrigation and fertilization, deadheading, pruning of trees, shrubs, and vines, weeding, labeling, bed amendment, transplanting and propagation of plant material, monitoring and treatment of plant health problems and composting. I also provided floral design for all holidays, events, and functions.

Master Gardener
Brae Burn Country Club – West Newton, Massachusetts (1992-1994)

Founded in 1897, Brae Burn provides Boston-area golf enthusiasts and families with a quality experience steeped in tradition, natural beauty and personalized service.  As their Master Gardener, I was responsible for all horticultural and administrative operations including the maintenance, renovation, and enhancement of complex grounds and gardens. I also provided a broad range of design services and managed a team of three.

Master Gardener
Portland Country Club – Falmouth, Maine (1990-1992)

Founded as a private club in 1895, the Portland Country Club today celebrates a deep tradition of member service and commitment to the game of golf. Similar to my work at Brae Burn, as Portland's Master Gardener, I specialized in the maintenance, renovation, and enhancement of complex grounds and gardens, including large collections of native plants.
